
The Cobar Bowling & Golf Club played host to a spectacular two days of bowls on the weekend for their Annual Triples Tournament, with 26 teams taking to the greens in beautiful conditions for bowls.
The event, which brought together competitors from across the region, showcased some exceptional skills and sportsmanship.
After two thrilling days of play, the Blacktown team, consisting of Jim May, Arthur Piper, and Garth Nolan, emerged as the champions, securing the top spot with an impressive five wins.
Their consistent performance and precision on the green were key to their victory.
In second place, the Bourke team—Chad Taylor, Kurt Dickson, and Glenn Knight—put up a strong fight throughout the tournament, while the Dubbo team of Steve Evans, Johnny Zeb, and Dean McCaskill claimed third place.
The home team, Cobar’s own David ‘Ooze’ Knight, Alec Fraser, and Dean McLeod, rounded out the top four, showing their local pride.
The round winners were: Round 1— Don Roberts, Kyle Roberts, and Doug Hudson; Round 2—Narelle Kriz, Peter Plater, and Jack Tulloh; Round 3—Hillston’s Josh Cahill, Jess Hyder, and Jeffrey Brown; Round 4—Cunnamulla’s Larry Horne, Danny, and Woodey; and Round 5—Hillston’s Allan Cooper, Andrew Hyder, and Mick Watts.
In addition to the tournament results, the Calcutta winner, Jess Hyder, took home the top prize, followed by Craig Grimmond in second place and Glenn Knight was third.
A highlight of the day was the Bowls Set Giveaway, which was won by Guy Felton from Hillston, an exciting prize for a day full of competition and camaraderie.—Not Biased
