Great 32-16 win for Roosters Under 16s

The Cobar Roosters Under 16s came away with a great 32-16 win over their Wellington counterparts in Round 7 of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Saturday.

Jackson Muldoon crossed for three tries, Eli Martin scored a double and Will Oborn also scored for Cobar to help them to their win.

Rowdy Barton added an extra eight points to the Roosters’ tally with his four conversions.

Corbin Colling earned the Coach’s Award and Justin Bruce was named their Players’ Player.

The Under 11s and Under 10s sides played uncontested matches while the Cobar Roosters Under 12s didn’t get a run after receiving a forfeit from Wellington.

Tries for Cobar in the Under 11s game were scored by Indie Burke, Ashton Campbell and Josh Gillette with Indie collecting the Coach’s Award and Josh McMillan was named as the team’s Players’ Player.

In the Under 10s game Jason Thou Cleary crossed twice and Lenny Hill also touched down (after Rosie George crossed the line but showed great sportsmanship for the second week in a row and passed to Lenny in support).

Jason collected the Coach’s award and Bella McCormack earned the Sportsmanship award.

There was a good crowd at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Sunday morning with lots of family members supporting Cobar Junior Rugby League’s, Little League, Under 6s and Under 8s football stars.

This week’s Little League stars 3-5 year olds awards went to Zane Medlin, Kosuke Edwards, Ryohei Edwards and Lucy Mainey.

The U6s took their confidence from playing the Warren Bulldogs last week into Sunday’s game.

Clayton Matlam displayed some remarkable tags while Kaiden Hamilton showed great defence which earned him the Coach’s award and Spencer Fugar received an award on debut when he stepped up to have his first game with the big boys and scored a touch down.

The Under 8s awards were earned by Colt Evans, Michael Arnold, Levi Prince and Ollie Tranter.
