Miners memorial progress

Regional Australia Bank Cobar branch manager Kelly Fairbank handed over a donation of $1,500 to Barry Knight last week to go towards the construction of the Cobar Miners Memorial in the Heritage Park. Kelly said the project was one that was close to heart of everybody in Cobar. “That’s why we are giving back to the community,” she said. The project has raised $85,000 to date, and two separate grant applications have been submitted which, if successful, will go close to bringing the project to fruition. A development application for the memorial was recently approved by Cobar Shire Council, which Mr Knight said should help in the grant application process.
