Cobar Shire Council deputy mayor Jarrod Marsden is keen to step up into the role of mayor at the mayoral elections later this month.
“It is my intention to run for the mayor’s position,” Cr Marsden told The Cobar Weekly
“I have spoken to several other councillors (not everyone yet) with regards to this mayoral election and I am unaware of any others who wish to stand.
“It is a really exciting and also challenging time for Cobar Shire moving forward.
“We need to really work hard to ensure the good work done in recent years is both maximised and enhanced.
“For example: the new child care centre will be a lovely white elephant if we can’t retain and attract enough child care professionals to work in it,” he said.
Cr Marsden said he is however disappointed that he won’t be moving forward with Cr Peter Maxwell, who recently resigned.
“Peter was a very good councillor and his contribution in the time he served CSC shouldn’t be overlooked and he should be praised for what he did.”
