A win by the Cobar Roosters Under 10s on Saturday will now see them progress to this week’s semi finals of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition.
Like their senior league counterparts, the Cobar Under 10s side finished third in their age division, with St Johns Blue claiming bragging rights at the top of the table ahead of St Johns Gold (two teams the Cobar side has recorded wins over this season).
Cobar ran all over their Dubbo Macquarie opposition on Saturday at Dubbo scoring 10 tries to finish with a resounding 52-0 win.
George Wainiqolo and Hugo Josephson scored doubles with Eligh Ritter, Sonny Stephens, Kasalia Fakahua, Alfie Toomey, Taj Goonrey and Jack Mitchell all crossing for a try each for Cobar.
Dusty McDonald, Austin Kane, Bria-June Brookman, Charlie Miller, along with Sonny and George landed a goal each.
Bria-June earned the Players’ Player honour while the Coaches Award was shared by Austin and George.
The Under 10s side heads back to Dubbo this week to take on the Warren Bulldogs in the elimination semi final.
The Roosters have only played the Bulldogs once prior this season, and at that encounter in Round 11 on July 29 at Warren, it was the Bulldogs who came out on top winning, 28-18.
The young Roosters have played consistently well all season with multiple players proving they can score tries, including Eligh Ritter, who with 19 tries this season, is equal 4th in the Under 10s for try stats…Full report in this week’s edition out now!
