The newly constructed children’s play area in Drummond Park was officially opened on Friday afternoon by Mayor Lilliane Brady. Cobar Shire Council’s special projects officer Angela Shepherd said despite the very hot weather there was a good crowd of park users on hand for the opening. “All were interested to have a look at what is being proposed for Stage 2 of the playground and we got some good suggestions,” Ms Shepherd said. “There was general agreement that we open the playground up and bring it into the park more; they liked the idea of an adventure style playground; there were good suggestions given on the swing types; how it can be more accessible; including a water bubbler in the area; and there was good support for a big climbing net to be included as the ‘centre feature’ of the park.”
