The Nymagee Magpies and Pumpettes
were the first to take the court in the new
season of Cobar Netball Association’s Senior
Ladies 2022 competition on Tuesday.
Pumpettes finished as eventual 47-33 winners
but it was a see-saw game to start with as
players settled back into, what has been for
some, a break of close to eight months away
from the court.
Pumpettes led 7-6 at the end of the first
quarter and a big second quarter effort had
them up 21-13 at half time.
The Magpies fought back to win the third
quarter 12-10, but a big finish by Pumpettes
saw them through to a 14 point win.
In the late game, Real Steel played JKM
Dynamic Fitness and they had to finish their
match in the rain.
JKM got off to a confident start and were up
six goals at the end of the first quarter.
The game then flipped and Real Steel took
control of the next two quarters as wet conditions
slowed the scoring.
JKM fought back strongly in the final quarter
to finish with a 25-22 win.
Ay-Jays Café forfeited their match to Divas.
