Gerard Livingston, Tony Brown and Bian Smith defeated Greg Reid, Alan Knight and Dave Knight in an absolute thriller of a game in the Golfie’s Triples Championship contest on Saturday.
Trailing for most of the game, Livingston and Co levelled the score at 17 apiece after 21 ends.
Winning the toss for the tiebreaker Smith thought it was all over, claiming the win but his celebration was quickly squashed when he was informed that he had to in fact play an extra end.
And what an end it was with the final result all dependent upon a measure of millimetres.
It was a fantastic game played in great spirits with the final score 18-17.
Barry Bargwanna and Karen Daly took out the social bowls win on Sunday with a score of +6.
The runners-up were Steve Bament and Rex Hunt on + 4. (Lucky that Rex is a better bowler than fisherman.)
Livingston and Co, along with their adopted son Peter ‘China’ Brien will contest the Fours Championships Final.
The quartet will need to bring their A game if they are any chance of competing with Scott Toomey, Shane Carter, Don Roberts and Kyle Roberts.
By all accounts it should be a great game.
