A simple and practical idea that has the potential to be of enormous help to school kids in fire devastated communities on the NSW South Coast is gaining plenty of support from the Cobar community.
Many local families have begun organising their back to school supplies and uniforms in readiness for the start of a new school year, and this year they are also buying some additional items.
These extra school items, such as pencils, pens, textas, glue sticks, erasers, sharpeners and white or grey school socks, are being collected at Gumnut Gifts and Homewares to be sent to the Moruya/Batemans Bay areas on the south coast.
Gumnut Gifts owner Trudy Griffiths said they were keen to help.
“We’re working with our local St John’s School who is partnering with a school in Moruya to collect the supplies to be donated to families with school-aged children impacted by bushfires.
“Moruya are making up back to school kits and they welcome any and all donations.” Trudy said.
