Cobar’s Detective Senior Constable Greg McKervey was presented the prestigious Gregory Jackson Award for the Central North Police District Officer of the Year at a ceremony in Bourke recently. Senior Constable Wright, pictured above (left) with Superintendent Greg Moore, was presented with a Commanders Merit Certificate for his involvement in a rural police operation. The Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad (CATS) held their fourth annual Fun Run in aid of Batyr, a preventative mental health organisation for young people. This year’s event, held in memory of Margaret Settree, who was a strong advocate for Batyr, raised $135 from entry fees.
The recent appointment of a new Police sergeant and another general duties officer to the Cobar Police Station means the sta-tion is once again fully staffed with seven officers.
