Youth hear from inspiring speaker

Samantha Longmore, at centre front, was in town teaching classes at The Pink Galah
art studio over the weekend and was coaxed into staying another night. Cobar Shire
Council youth officer, Natalie Prisk, said they engaged Samantha to make a
presentation to local youth. She recounted her story of how she suffered a car crash
due to fatigue. While she was being transported to hospital by an Ambulance, it also
crashed. As a result, Samantha suffered a brain stem injury which has paralysed the
right side of her body. She spoke about how peer pressure (from managers, friends,
peers and family) can lead to making one bad decision that can change the trajectory
of your life. After struggling for multiple years with the stress of her new way of living,
she has focused on the positives which include starting her business “ohhbulldust” and
qualifying for the water skiing world championships. ▪ Photo contributed
