Lady golfers were rugged up this week after winter arrived a bit early.
The cold snap however didn’t deter weekend players with 14 ladies turning up for both days of competition.
Wednesday’s stableford could only manage seven starters with a three-way countback determining the winner, Susan Goonrey, from Wan Sipatsa and Fran Samios after each scored 33 points.
The A Grade Nearest the Pin prize on the 15th hole went to Wan Sipatsa and Susan Goonrey was the closest for B Grade.
There was a close finish in Saturday’s Stroke game with Sally Bannister leading the way with 70 net followed by Fran Samios (71), Angela Fryer (72), Jannine Wilkin (73) and Barb Barklimore on 74 net. Sue Phillips, Jannine Wilkin and Serena Fraser were the best on the greens with 26 putts each.
Seven teams played in a two person Ambrose event on Sunday.
Fran Samios and Marlene Wynd were able to stay warm to win the chilly day’s event with a score of 70 net.
The runners-up were Robynne Morton and Tina Gordon on 73½ just ahead of the third place pairing of Narelle Kriz and Jannine Wilkin on 74 net.
The Nearest the Pin competition on the 3rd hole was won by Fran Samios while Robynne Morton collected the prize on the 11th hole.
With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, many scheduled games in this year’s Ladies Golf program book cannot be played including the matches set down for this coming weekend.
In their place will be a Canadian (select own partner) game on Saturday and a Stroke game on Sunday.
A Stroke game will also be played today and if the weatherman is on ‘par’ it will be a lovely mild 19 degrees.
