Three new course records set at CATS February triathlon

There was a field of nine competitors for Sunday’s CATS triathlon event.

Three new course records were set at the
Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s
(CATS) February triathlon on Sunday
morning.
Sunday’s weather was perfect for the swimmers
and runners, but not so much for the bike
leg phase with a head wind that slowed down
some competitor’s ride times.
Raymond Jones recorded a personal best
(PB) time in the swim leg setting a new short
course record swim time of 4min 39sec over
300m.
Greg McKervey had a PB in the run leg to
set a new short course record run time of 7.49
over 2km.
McKervey’s experienced McJoggers team of
Bianka Jacobson (swim) and Trudy Griffiths
(ride) also set a new team Short Course record
time on Sunday finishing the 300m swim,
10km run and 2km ride in 36min.37 sec.
The new record was only enough however to
put them in third place on the podium with to
put them 3rd on the podium with Zac Broughton
finishing as the handicapped winner.
Broughton completed the course in 39
minutes and 43 seconds, and, with a PB in his
run, he finished 1 min 12 secs better than his
average time.
Raymond Jones (39.15) was second after bettering his average by 16 seconds
