St John’s bows out in second round

After beating the St Joseph’s Nyngan team in the final in Round 1 of the Peachey Shield competition in Cobar back in May, the Cobar St John’s Year 5/6 team (pictured with coach Rob Josephson) competed in Round 2 of the competition last week in Dubbo. The Cobar team lost their opening game to Forbes 5-1, were just pipped 3-2 in their game with Bathurst and lost 8-4 in their third game to Mudgee. Reece Josephson ran in five tries for Cobar with Axel Fairfull and Jay Lamond also scoring tries. Reece, Axel and Jack Rogers were named the team’s best players on the day. ▪ Photo contributed
