The final event of the Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s (CATS) Duathlon Tri Series was contested on Sunday morning.

It was also the final event of the 2017/2018 season and was contested in bitterly cold conditions which kept the competitor numbers down to just four.

Scott Brown finished as the winner on Sunday and was also the overall winner of the Tri Series after taking out all three events.

He completed Sunday’s three run legs of 1.2km alternated with two ride legs of 4km in a time of 33 minutes 35 seconds just narrowly ahead of Chris Freeman with at time of 33.39 and Anthony Wrigley on 34.20.

Raymond Jones finished further back on
43.59.

Brown had the fastest run leg of the day, completing both his first and third run legs in identical times of 4min49sec.

Freeman was only a second behind with his best run leg 4.50.

Wrigley had the quickest bike leg recording a time of 8min23sec on his first bike leg.

The top three ran and rode a very close race and they finished both bike legs as a pack with just four seconds separating 1st to 3rd.

Wrigley finished second in the Tri Series with two 4th places and a 3rd.

Freeman was third overall with a 3rd and 2nd place and Team BS (Bianka Jacobson and Steph Baker) were 4th with a 2nd and one 6th place for the series.
