Roosters put on a good show when they took on the Tigers

Ford Ellison stepping around his Nyngan Tigers opposition in Saturday’s Under 7’s junior rugby league game at Tom Knight Memorial Oval.

Cobar Roosters Junior Rugby League hosted the Nyngan Tigers teams at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Saturday for Round 8 of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League Competition.
It was a big day of rugby league action with teams ranging from Under 6s to Under 16s lining up to play.
In the Under 6s game the outstanding player awards went to Archie Fugar and Roman Waugh, in the Under 7s, they were collected by Ford Ellison and Ashton Hyland and in the Under 8s game the awards went to Liam Cain and Josh Gillette.
The Cobar Under 9s dominated the Nyngan visitors in their uncontested match and showed off some superior skills.
Cobar’s Players’ Player award went to Riley Hunter while the Coaches Award was earned by Briar Brookman.
The Cobar Under 12s collected the competi-tion points in their match with the Tigers in a match that was a tough tussle.
The young Roosters finished as 12-4 win-ners with Cobar’s tries recorded by Lachlan Brookman and Rowdy Barton.
Cohan Nicholson and Rowdy Barton con-verted a try each.
Their Players’ Player was Corey Piggott with the Coaches Award earned by Clay McDonald.
The Under 16s game was a thriller that fin-ished in a 32-all draw.
Jayden Paul (2), Tadhg McMullen (2), Kai Taylor and Jamal Eves scored tries for Cobar with Tadhg McMullen responsible for four conversions.
Kai Taylor collected the Players’ Player award while the Coaches Award went to Jamal Eves.
The Under 14s game was also a thriller with the Roosters just beaten in the late stages of the match, 32-28.
Tries for Cobar were recorded by Jaxon Burke, Will Oborn, Axel Fairfull, Jay La-mond and Ryan Mugugia with Tim Eves kicking four goals.
Cobar’s Players’ Player was Ryan Mugugia and the Coaches Award went to Jacob Chan-dler.
Cobar’s Under 10s were outplayed in their match with the Tigers going down 30-18.
Billy Watt, Tommy George and Judd Jo-sephson touched down for tries for Cobar with conversions kicked by Tommy George, Judd Josephson and Eligh Ritter.
Cobar’s Players’ Player was Thomas Knight with Tommy George collecting the Coaches Award.
The Roosters Under 11s had a bye.
The Roosters are at home again this week-end to the St John’s Gold and Narromine teams for Round 9.
