The Cobar Roosters Rugby League Club is offering a reward for information regarding the theft of a Husqvarna ride on lawn mower that was stolen from Tom Knight Memorial Oval over the weekend.

The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between last Friday night and Monday morning.

Club president John ‘JD’ Dunn said the offender/s gained entry to the oval by cutting a hole in the boundary fence.

They also broke into a storage shed, tampering with the lock, stole a drum of lawn mower fuel.

Cobar Police are investigating the matter and a forensics officer from Bourke will be taking evidence from the scene.

JD said the clubhouse and canteen (both of which don’t contain any stock) were fortunately not broken into.

He said the break, enter, and theft is bad news for the club as their volunteers have worked hard to raise money to purchase the mower and make improvements to the grounds.

He said the perimeter fence will need to be repaired and they’ll have to borrow a mower so that maintenance can continue on the oval until such times the mower is recovered (or replaced).

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact police.
