Two local creative business women teamed up to put on Palettes & Palates in the Paddock which pulled a big crowd on Saturday night.

Artist Seigrid Peters provided the Palettes offering a canvas painting workshop (and also the Paddock at her property Scrubby Valley) while chef Haylee Prince catered for their guests’ Palates with a delicious three course meal.

They catered for 82 people (which included a group from Bourke).

Haylee spoke to The Cobar Weekly on Monday and said from all accounts, the event was a great success.

“We were pleased with how everything went and we’ve had lots of great feedback,” she said.

The collaboration came after Seigrid approached Haylee last July with her idea for a Long Lunch.

“Separately we had the same sort of idea,” Haylee said.

“We discussed it and I suggested we do something under the starry skies as Long Lunches have been done elsewhere.

“The last six months have been so busy in Cobar so we chose April for its good weather, cooler nights and it wasn’t looking as busy.”

“Our aim was to get the community together to do something different.

“I loved it!” Haylee said.

“Creatively I could do something I wanted as I wasn’t working for a client.”

Following its success, the pair plan to now make it an annual event.
