On ya bike Trudy!

Local Trudy Griffiths has been spending nearly as much time riding her bike as she has been at work these past few months as she’s been in training to ride the Tour de OROC charity ride, which raises funds for the Macquarie Home Stay in Dubbo. Trudy will be joining the peloton of riders in Walgett today to ride 78km to Lightning Ridge and 127km to Brewarrina tomorrow. Friday’s ride to Bourke is another 98km and from there it’s a long 160km ride home to Cobar for Trudy on Saturday. She will have a group of Cobar riders joining her in Bourke to keep her company on the last leg and the group will also have an escort from the Dust Bowl Fuel Burners club. To date as they reach town. Trudy has raised almost $9,500.

Local businesswoman Trudy Griffths will head off for a 463km ride when she joins the 2024 Tour de OROC charity ride in Walgett today.

This year’s Tour de OROC charity ride, which raises funds for the Macquarie Home Stay accommodation facility, kicked off on Monday in Dubbo.

Trudy made the decision that four days of riding would be enough for her and so she will be joining the peloton of riders in Walgett today (on Day 3) to ride “just a short 78km to Lightning Ridge” where they’ll spend the night before being bused back to Walgett early tomorrow morning.

The group then rides 127km to Brewarrina and another 98km to Bourke on Friday.

From there it’s a long 160km ride home to Cobar for Trudy on Saturday, however  she will have a group of Cobar riders joining her in Bourke to keep her company on the last leg.

A few more local riders will join the group at the northern entrance to town with the Dust Bowl Fuel Burners Club also planning to escort the peloton into town.

The ride finishes in Cobar and the Tour de OROC group can expect a warm community welcome waiting for them at Drummond Park followed by a presentation dinner that evening at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club.

To date, Trudy has raised almost $9,500.
