New officer welcomed

A new police officer arrived in Cobar this week with Constable Tony Martin
commencing duties on Monday. Constable Martin and his young family made the move to Cobar from Sydney’s Northern Beaches where he’s served for the past two and a half years. He said policing in Cobar is definitely a lot quieter, as he’s used to working with a minimum of eight car crews on duty (ie 16 cops) whereas in Cobar it’s just two. Constable Martin said he chose a career in policing after having grown
up in a “not ideal background” and believed that it was a way he could make a
difference in the community. Constable Martin is pictured above at right with Cobar Police Sergeant Chris Power.
