Local farmers treated to a fun night out

Jamie ‘Dodge’ Manning (standing at back, far right) was one of the guest speakers at the Night for Our Framers dinner at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club on Thursday night. The three conference rooms at the club were packed for the night with a crowd of 388 local farmers, residents and sponsors of the event gathering to enjoy “a night off”. Pictured with Dodge are Nymagee residents Dianne and Terry Roche with near neighbours Marie, ‘Young’ Phil, ‘Old’ Phil and Lyn Harley. Other speakers included author Alice Mabin and Duncan Whittle and Lauren Donovan from IGrain Australia while entertainment was provided by musicians Dennis and Sandy Crombie, Western Studio of Performing Arts dancers and Cobar Public School’s signing choir. One of the organisers, Georgie Brown, said they received great feedback with people thoroughly enjoying themselves. With lots of donations to the event, there were plenty of lucky door prizes with the farmers going home with a variety of vouchers, dog food, hay, tools, hampers, clothing and gifts.
