The Last Minute team lived up to their name in the Fast5 netball competition last week and grabbed a last minute, one point win over their opposition, Shooting Blanks.
After trailing for most of the match, they took out the game in the final quarter after scoring a whopping 14 points (which was nearly 80 per cent of their total score).
By the end of the third quarter (when Shooting Blanks had elected to use their Power Play option, when points are doubled), Last Minute were down 12-4.
Last Minute however had saved their Power Play option until the last minute, and some sensational shooting by Jayden Paul saw them through to an 18-17 win.
Jayden and Shooting Blanks’ Taylor Sainsbury earned the Favourite Fiver nominations.
Untouchables and Rebounders also played out a close match in their Round 2 game last week with Untouchables finishing as 30-28 winners.
Untouchables made the most of their Power Play quarter, which they elected to use in the final quarter, and they scored 14 points which helped them to their narrow win.
Best on court were Mitch Shields (Untouchables) and Zac Broughton (Rebounders).
Last season’s premiers, Mixed & Matched, have continued their good form into this season and last week recorded a big 49-16 win over the Peak Golden Nuggets.
Peak Golden Nuggets made a good start to the match and only trailed by a point at the first break before Mixed & Matched put their foot down in the second quarter and led 20-9.
Mixed & Matched added 22 points to their tally in the third quarter (when they used their Power Play option) and by the time Peak Golden Nuggets used their Power Play option in the final quarter, the deficit was too much to reign in.
The game’s Favourite Fivers were Sarah Nicholson (Mixed & Matched) and Skyla Fairfull (Peak Golden Nuggets).
