Cobar Junior Rugby League had their first hit out of the season when teams travelled to Dubbo on Saturday.

The Under 16s, Under 14s, Under 12s and Under 10s sides came up against South Dubbo while Cobar’s Under 9s took on Dubbo Macquarie.

The Roosters Under 16s were beaten 60-0  but, to their credit, the Cobar side never stopped defending all game.

In contrast to their Souths opposition who had a full 16s side (along with 10 subs on the bench), Cobar had to call on five of the club’s Under 14s players to make up their team on Saturday.

Coaches Bryce Moore and Wal Barton said they were very proud of the team’s efforts despite the big margin.

The winner of the team’s Coaches Award and Players’ Player award will be announced this week at training.

The Roosters Under 14s lost their match to Souths 50-14.

Tries for Cobar were scored by Will Oborn, Lachlan Brookman and Tate Sinclair with Rowdy Barton landing one conversion.

The Coaches Award went to Oscar Ryan and Josh Francisco was named their Players’ Player.

The Cobar Under 12s were also beaten by their Souths hosts 26-8. Tommy George and Tim McClure were their try scorers.

Tim also earned the Players’ Player honour and the Coaches Award went to Charlie Miller.

The Under 10s competition games this season is now non-competitive.

It was a great match on Saturday against Souths with tries for Cobar recorded by Billy Tiffen (2), Cooper Trudgett (2), Indie Burke, Josh Gillette and Keelan Atuau.

The Coaches Award went to Billy Tiffen  while the Players’ Player honour went to Kade Taylor.

The Under 9s played their very first away game coming up against Dubbo Macquarie.

The team showed plenty of skills and a lot of pace to run in six tries in the match.

Four tries were scored by Jason Cleary which helped to earn him the Players’ Player award.

Maddox Best also touched down for a try along with Jake Prendergast.

Jake also picked up the Coaches Award.
