The field of 42 golfers was greeted with a cold and windy day on Sunday for the 2023 Men’s Epiroc Golf Open with the day made just a bit worse by the early hit-off time.
After a long tussle in A Grade, it came down to the three players who were expected to challenge: Garry Wilkin, Alec Fraser and Jay Egan, plus Joey Walker, a 14-year old schoolboy from Warren.
After 26 holes it looked as if Garry Wilkin had it in the bag, until the final hole where he had a quadruple bogey eight to sink his chances and give him nightmares for months to come – he lost by two shots!
It then all came down to a three-man playoff between Egan, Fraser and Walker, who all scored a 116 off the stick…Full report in this week’s edition out now!!
