Fraser and Lawrence win the first game

The official Men’s Golf season teed off on Saturday with the pairing of Alec Fraser and Peter ‘Ding’ Lawrence proving to be a winning combination.

Fraser and Lawrence scored 43 points to win the Four-Ball-Best-Ball event one shot clear of the team of Mark Fraser and Stewart Fraser.

Third place went to Chris Powell and John Carlaw with 39 points.

The best individual score was 36 points recorded by Lawrence and also Stewart Fraser with Lawrence winning on a countback.

Lawrence had a good day and even took out the difficult Nearest the Pin prize on the 11th  hole.

Greg Clark won the prize on the 7th hole and Mark Fraser collected the one on the 8th.

The other two holes were not won.

The first Monthly Medal competition was played on Sunday and as predicted, it was Greg Clark whose fierce will-to-win attitude intimidated the other 12 competitors.

Clark cleaned up with 35 points.

An overwhelmed club captain, Alec Fraser, came in second with 33 points and Garry Wilkin was 3rd with 32 points.

Dean McLeod, who is still yet to get his Golflink card, scored 31 points.

Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Piers Brown on the 3rd hole and Greg Clark, who won the 7th hole prize for the second time over the weekend. The prizes on the other three holes were not won…full report in this week’s edition!
