First time competitors, Jasper Waters, Xavier Foster and Michael Arnold, claimed a win in the Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s (CATS) handicapped triathlon event on Sunday.
The trio, competing as the XJM team, finished the Try-A-Tri course (200m swim/5km ride/2km run) in 35 minutes and 13 seconds to take the handicapped winner’s title.
Second place went to Long Course competitor Nathan McAndrew who clocked in 1 hr 13min 16sec for the 500m swim/20km ride/4km run and beat his previous best time by three minutes.
Third place went to Team MAN (Mason Hill and Nixon Shields) who bettered their nominated time for the Try-A-Tri course by two minutes 18 seconds (39.42)
Lenny Hill also competed in the Try-A-Tri event finishing with a good time of 43.05.
Three individuals and a team tackled the Short Course (300m swim/10km ride/2km run) with Isaac Theakston the fastest finisher on 36.07 followed by Caleb Theakston on 37.03.
Parker Cryer set himself a new personal best time in the Long Course of 1.18.09.
Many of the athletes will be back at the pool on Monday for the Short Course and Mini Triathlon events which are being held as part of the Australia Day program.
