Divine intervention for some golfers

After a lot of the men golfers played in the 27 holes mixed foursomes on Saturday (see Ladies’ Golf report on opposite page), there was however only a field of 11 men  for the Four-Ball-Worst-Ball competition on Sunday.

The winning pairing of Jason Foster and Chris Powell finished the day with 32 points.

(Powell had attended the blessing of the grotto at the Catholic church prior to golf, so perhaps the extra prayers helped his game.)

Second place went to Bill Fugar and Geoff ‘Herbie’ Dunne with 29 points, and Brad Bannister and Garry Wilkin came in third with 27 points.

The best individual score of the day was 39 points by Bannister, who beat Dunne on a countback.

(Bannister also attended the blessing of the grotto at the church, so there could be a message there – go to church before you play golf!)

Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Garry Wilkin on the 3rd and 8th holes, Powell on the 11th and Andy Taylor claimed the prize on the 15th…Full report in this week’s edition out now!
