Cowboys a bit rusty for their first rep game

The Cobar Cowboys senior cricket representative season commenced last weekend with Cobar recording a first round loss to Dubbo in Dubbo on Sunday.

With very little cricket played this year due to wet weather, it’s understandable that the players would be rusty.

Cobar won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Cowboys were bowled out for 182 runs in only the 31st over.

Jay Egan’s move back to opener proved successful for Cobar with Egan top scoring with 70 runs off 63 balls.

Jason Hampel provided good support with 44 runs off 43 balls but Cobar did lose wickets at regular intervals with Mark Fraser and Alec Fraser the only other batsmen to score double figures with 11 runs each.

In reply, Dubbo reached the required total with four wickets in hand and 10 overs remaining.

Tristan Everett took three wickets for the Cowboys, Egan topped off a great all-round performance taking two wickets, and Nicola Harbison also took one wicket.—contributed
