Cobar kids among field of 1,030 competitors

A contingent of 12 Cobar Little A’s Club athletes competed at the Little Athletics NSW Region 3 Championships in Dubbo over the weekend.

Competing in the Under 10 boys age group, Joshua Gillette finished 6th in his 70m sprint, 9th in both the 100m sprint and Long Jump events and 10th place in Discus.

Lauren O’Sullivan (U11 girls) finished in 2nd place in Triple Jump, 9th in her 200m sprint and 11th in Discus.

Thomas Knight (U12 boys) placed 9th in both his Discus and Triple Jump events, 12th in Long Jump and 14th in his 400m sprint.

Clair Cousins (U12 girls) landed 2nd spot in Javelin, 3rd in Discus, placed 6th in her 800m sprint and 8th in the 400m sprint.

Isabelle Gillette (U12 girls) finished in 10th place in Discus.

Cobar had seven athletes competing in the Under 17 age group.

Eli Hodges (U17 boys) finished in 1st place for Javelin, 9th in Shot Put and 10th in Discus. Nick Hodges (U17 boys) was 4th in his 110m Hurdles, 5th in Discus, 6th in both Triple Jump and Long Jump and finished 7th in his 200m sprint.

Harry Cousins (U17 boys) was 5th in Javelin, placed 7th in Discus and finished 8th in both his 400m sprint and Triple Jump events.

Malcolm Gillette (U17) was 6th in Shot Put, 8th in Javelin and 11th in his 100m sprint.

In the U17 girls events, Pearl Blackburn finished in 3rd place in 1500m run, 4th in 400m Sprint and 9th in her 200m sprint.

Cassidy O’Sullivan (U17 girls) finished 6th in Triple Jump, 7th in Long Jump, and 8th in both her Discus and Shot Put events.

Ashley Cousins (U17 girls) finished 5th in Triple Jump, 6th in Long Jump, 8th in Javelin, 9th place in both her Discus and Shot Put events and 10th in the 100m sprint.
