Changes at the top for Cobar Miners Race Club committee

Cobar Miners Race Club held their annual general meeting on Monday night with Tony Polack (seated at front second from left) taking on the president’s role from Jarrod Marsden after he stepped down from the top job.

There’s been some changes at the top following the Cobar Miners Race Club annual general meeting on Monday night, with Tony Polack taking on the president’s role.

Long time president, Jarrod Marsden (who has served in the role since 2015) did not seek re-election for the top job but indicated he was happy to continue in another (less time consuming) role.

In his outgoing president’s report, Marsden praised the hard work of his committee over the past year.

“2024 was a good year for the Cobar Miners Race Club,” Marsden said.

“People might not see it, but an incredible amount of work was done with the outside running rail and culvert works to the back side of the racetrack.

“This makes our track one of the best tracks in Western NSW.”

He said 2025 is again shaping up to be an important year for the club and there is a lot of work to be done on and off the track between now and their next meeting in May next year.

“The outlook is extremely positive and I look forward to being a part of the ongoing success of the club,” Marsden said.

Natalie Prisk stepped up into the vice president’s position from treasurer/secretary.

Her former role was split with Hank Ung taking on the treasurer’s role and Helen Polack was elected as the committee’s new secretary (and publicity officer).

Shae Martin was welcomed as the new Fashions on the Field Coordinator.

Marsden was elected as race day secretary.
