A well attended Tourism Advisory Committee meeting was held on Thursday night at the Services Club. A number of items were discussed including an update on the construction of the war memorial in Drummond Park (and the associated celebrations around the unveiling of it); a progress report on the Iron Ring attraction; the proposed new interactive cinematic underground experience at the museum; the Heritage Park camping zone; the state of the toilets at the busy Gilgunnia Rest Area; and the Historical Hotels tour. The meeting also did a wrap up on the pros and cons of the recent Festival of the Miner’s Ghost. A 2024 Calendar of Events was presented and a number of new ideas were put forward to entice more visitors to town.
