With the National AIF Swimming Carnival in Nelson Bay just 10 days away, the Cobar Yabbies are looking to be in great form, particularly club veteran, Bob Clark.
Clark will be keen to defend his 2025 National title, the 50 metres handicapped freestyle event that he won last year in Coffs Harbour.
And if Clark continues with his current good form, then the Yabbies might be bringing the trophy back home!
Clark recorded three first place finishes in the four events contested at last Tuesday’s Cobar Men’s Swimming Club weekly competition.
He won the 30 metres handicapped freestyle swim with a time of 0.02 seconds off his nominated time with James Daymond second on 0.05 and Chris Powell was back in third place with 0.08 seconds.
Clark celebrated a win in the 100m swim with a sensational time of 0.04 seconds off his nominated time.
John Carswell was further back in second with 0.38 seconds off his time and Daymond was third with 0.81.
Murray Harland interrupted Clark’s unbeaten run of the night when he claimed the spoils in the 50m event winning with a near perfect time of 0.01 seconds off his nominated time.
Kyle Roberts picked up second place with 0.12 seconds and Carswell was just behind in third place with 0.16.
Clark’s third win of the night came in the Brace relay novelty event where teams had to swim across the pool using a one arm backstroke.
Clark and Matt Harland finished within 0.06 seconds of their nominated time with Carswell and Charlie Nelson second on 0.28. Stephen Clark and Murray Harland were third with 0.37 seconds off their combined time.
