Another road trip for junior league

Four Cobar Junior Rugby League teams travelled to Dubbo on Saturday to play in Round 3 of the Dubbo & Districts Junior Rugby League competition.

The day was dedicated as a memorial to a former Dubbo competition player Sam Fraser.

The Under 10s game was a thriller with the Cobar team narrowly losing 28-30 against their Wellington opposition.

Reece Josephson was a stand out for the Roosters running in four tries and kicking a goal.

Nate Martin also touched down for a try and also added two points with his conversion.

Goals were also kicked by Jaxon Burke and Jedd Budd.

Reece, Jaxon and Jedd were named as the team’s best players of the match.

The Cobar Under 12s were beaten 46-10 by the well-drilled Dubbo City team.

Reynold Mugugia ran in two tries for Cobar and Nathan Bartlett kicked one goal.

Best on the field for Cobar were Aaron Dinnerville, Reynold Mugugia, Jamal Eves and Sarah Morley.

The Cobar Under 14s had a tough encounter against their Dubbo City opposition and lost the game 60-0.

Cobar’s best players were Zane Taylor, Ted Smith and Sam Shepherd.

The Under 15/16s game was a high scoring affair with the Cobar side eventually going down 60-18 to their South Dubbo opposition.

Cobar’s point scorers were Haymish McLeod (2 tries) and Seb Best (1 try and 3 goals).

Cobar’s best players on the day were Haymish McLeod, Tyson Brilley, Dylan Boland and Dylan Morley.

Following recent selection trials in Dubbo, Zane Taylor has been selected to play with the Western Reds Group 11 Under 14s representative team this season.

In other Cobar Junior Rugby League news, the Mini football competition kicked off on Sunday morning at Tom Knight Memorial Oval. The competition is open to boys and girls up to and including nine years of age.
