Two one-sided matches were played in Round 5 of the Opens Touch competition on Thursday night at Ward Oval with the competition’s front runners, Makos and Blossoms, keeping their unbeaten records in tact.
Makos finished as big 18-1 winners over Fast Fades.
Rhylee Jeffery led the scoring for her Mako’s team adding six points to their tally with her three tries.
(Female tries are worth double points.)
Tyler Chiswick, Jack Brown and Jed Noonan also crossed for doubles and Codi Ellison and Brianna Watson added a try each to Makos’ big final tally.
Jayden Paul was the lone try scorer for Fast Fades.
Rhylee, Jack and Chris Riley (Fast Fades) shared in the referees’ Best & Fairest points.
Blossoms also had a high scoring 15-5 win over Rock Dogs in their Round 5 match up last week.
Sosie Barton couldn’t be caught and finished the match with a big haul of five tries.
Ella Oborn, Jaxon Burke and Norma Mugugia were Blossoms’ other try scorers.
Rock Dogs’ points came from tries by Kai McCosker (3), Braden Read and Aiden Hyland.
The game’s B&F points went to Kai, Nick Francisco (Rock Dogs) and Oisin McMullen (Blossoms).
In the other Round 5 games played, Rusty Snails got the better of Phat Athletes to win 7-3 and Kiss My Pass held out to claim a narrow 10-8 win over Guns N Hoses.
Concrete Cowboys also finished as Round 5 winners after they received a forfeit from Full Tilt who were unable to field enough players for the match.
