Big weekend on ladies golfing calendar

There were some weary lady golfers after the Club Championships were played on the weekend with 27 holes contested each day. 

The 2018 A Grade  Scratch winner was Jenny Stephenson while Chrissy Gilligan was the runner-up and the Nett winner was Narelle Kriz with Julie Livingston the runner-up.

The B Grade title went to Geraldine Francisco with Robynne Morton runner-up. The B Nett winner was Pat Polack and Susan Goonrey finished as the runner-up.

In C Grade Tina Gordon was the runaway winner with Karen Walsh the runner-up. Joy Josephson was the Nett winner.

A ball competition was held in conjunction with the championships with Jenny Stephenson claiming the win on Saturday with a score of 68 net.

A countback was needed for second and third between Chrissy Gilligan and Julie Livingston after both recorded 69 net.

Sally Bannister was next with 70 net followed by Pat Polack and Angela Fryer (71 net each) and Geraldine Francisco and Pam Sikora on 73 net each.

The A Grade Nearest the Pin winner was Chrissy Gilligan (7th hole); in B Grade Jannine Wilkin won the 15th and Tina Gordon had a win in C Grade on the 8th hole.

Sunday’s ball competition was a convincing win for Tina Gordon posting a brilliant 62 net score to blitz the rest of the field.

Jenny Stephenson and Pat Polack were next carding 69 net each followed by Robynne Morton and Jannine Wilkin (71 net each), Geraldine Francisco 73 net, Fay Hardwick 75 net and Narelle Kriz 76 net.

Stephenson won the A Grade pin prize on the 11th hole; Polack nearly holed out on the 8th (8cms) for B Grade; and Gordon won the C Grade pin to top off a great weekend.

In last Wednesday’s Stableford game Karen Walsh scored 38 points to take the win from Ann Dunn (37) and Daphne Cross (36).

Fran Samios picked up the Nearest the Pin prize on the 3rd hole and Susan Goonrey was closest on the 11th.

Seven Cobar ladies made the journey to play in the Western District Ladies Golf Association Sandgreen Teams event in Molong on Thursday which hosted 45 players from 16 clubs.

Although not winning the teams event, Cobar players were in the mix for the open that was played in conjunction with the event.

Jenny Stephenson continued her one woman clean up around the area winning the Scratch event.

Fay Hardwick was the Stableford runner-up as well as picking up one of the A Grade Nearest the Pin prizes with Jannine Wilkin grabbing the second.  Chrissy Gilligan was a 9 hole winner.

Today is a par game and a stroke is set down for Saturday. A Stableford will be played on Sunday, and the Tottenham Open is on Sunday also for both women and men players.—T’d Off
