Open tournament brings in darts players from interstate

The Cobar Darts Open contested recently over three days had 35 players from Cobar, Broken Hill, Dubbo, Orange, Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Port Pirie and Port Augusta competing. 

The Men’s Singles winner was Broken Hill visitor Raymond O’Donnell and John Nottage from Port Pirie was the runner-up.

Two Cobar players, Tony Brown and Craig Jones, finished equal third.

The Ladies Singles winner was Jenny Duggan from Pokolbin with Cazza Dart (Port Augusta) the runner-up.

Finishing equal third were Amanda Stone (Broken Hill) and Rhiannon Kerr (Newcastle).

Newcastle’s Brendon Porter and Jeremy Jackson claimed the Men’s Doubles title with Sean Beattie and Dean Mayne from Broken Hill the runners-up.

Paul Cohen (Cobar) and Graeme Fridd along with Matthew Coughlan and Rocko Crawford finished equal third.

Newcastle players also claimed the Ladies Doubles title with Samantha Throup and Rhiannon Kerr finishing as winners over Cazza Dart and Kylie Tiffen (Cobar).

Equal third were Cobar’s Mescal Nicholls and Latisha Bennett with Amanda Stone (Broken Hill) and Jenny Duggan (Pokolbin).

A total of 18 180 scores were thrown over the weekend with Jeremy Jackson (Newcastle) responsible for five; Raymond O’Donnell 4; Graeme Fridd 2; Dean Mayne 1; Rocko Crawford 1; Matthew Coughlan 1; Bian Smith 1 (Cobar); Tony Brown 1; Craig Jones 1; and Rhiannon Kerr 1.

The Highest Peg Out for the men was 142 thrown by Graeme Fridd and the Ladies was 96 by Jenny Duggan.
