Cobar Shire Councillors will consider 23 submissions put forward by residents for the Newey Draft Management Plan at tomorrow’s Ordinary Council Meeting.

The lengthy, 105 page report compiled by Council’s director of planning and environmental services, Garry Ryman, will give Councillors plenty of reading material prior to tomorrow’s meeting.

A total of 62 matters were raised in the submissions in response to the public exhibition and included: that free camping would be detrimental to the broader community, there is a need to protect and preserve the area, concerns about a loss of native habitat, soil erosion, the management of biodiversity, a lack of suitable infrastructure and traffic issues.
