Empire and Western grab grand final glory

The grand final games of the local darts competition were played last Wednesday night at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club.

Empire Barflies claimed the A Grade title while the Western Benchwarmers finished on top in B Grade.

Empire Barflies fought hard in their match to win 6-4 over Golfie Gophers.

The Western Benchwarmers were more convincing in their win and finished with a 6-3 victory over the Golfie Razorbacks in the B Grade grand final.

Rod Coleman, Craig Youd and Andrew Buckman, the team’s high scorers, led the way for the Empire Barflies.

Coleman recorded high throws of 100 and 103, Youd had a 100 throw and Buckman pulled out the big guns with a throw of 136.

Golfie Gophers had their moments with Chris Hooker throwing a big 137 and Jim Nicholls had a high score of 125.

Western Benchwarmers were in sensational form last Wednesday with Mitchell Adams recording a high score of 140, Zach Finn threw 108, Tadgh Waugh recorded a 100 throw and Matthew  Kloppler chipped in with another high score of 105 to help them to their win over the Golfie Razorbacks.

Best for the Golfie Razorbacks last week were Paul Cohen, with a throw of 121, Linda Fridd with 115, Nancy Ware with a score of 120 and Karl Saunders also recorded a high score of 100.
