Young Roosters were strong at home

Dustin Crotty, playing with the Roosters Under 12s on Saturday against Narromine at Tom Knight Memorial Oval, made plenty of inroads in attack. The Roosters led 16-8 at the half time break but were eventually beaten 24-20 after a spirited second half fight back by the Narromine side.

The Cobar Junior Rugby League Club had some excellent results winning three of their five games against Narromine on Saturday.

The young Roosters hosted the Jets juniors for Round 4 of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition at Tom Knight Memorial Oval with the Cobar 15/16s, Cobar 14s and Cobar Under 11s all recording good wins while the Under 10s and Under 12s only lost their games by narrow margins.

The Roosters 15/16s team finished with the best result of the day, with a convincing
32-12 win over the Jets.

Tries for Cobar were recorded by Ben Griffiths, Braden Grimes, Bradley Parnaby, Riley Porter, Edwin Smith and Zane Taylor with Ben Griffiths converting four times.

The Coach’s Awards went to Ben Griffiths and Edwin Smith.

The Under 11s won their game 24-20 with their tries run in by Hayden Seng (2), Brandon Maguire and Mitch Allen.

The Coaches Awards were presented to Brandon Maguire, Jack Rogers and Tim Eves.

Kai Taylor put three over the line for the Under 14’s in their high scoring 50-48 win over Narromine with Jayden Paul and Reynold Mugugia running in two tries each.

Bayley Barber and Daniel Picton each added a try to their big tally.

Tadgh McMullen had a good day with the boot to nail six conversions, and Nathan Bartlett landed one.

Kai Taylor and Tadgh McMullen collected the Coach’s Awards.

There was only one try the difference in both the Under 10s and Under 12s games, with both matches ending in the same 24-20 score.

For the Cobar Under 10s Nate Martin netted three tries with Drew Barton running in a try also.

Conversions were made by Nate Martin, Kai McCosker and Rowdy Barton.

The Coach’s Awards went to Kairo Ngata and Jacob Chandler.

In the Under 12s game, Reece Josephson shined for the Roosters. He scored four tries and converted one and Oisin McMullen kicked a goal to add to their 20 point tally.

Lochlan Abel and Brock Hamilton earned the Coach’s Awards.

In the Under 6 Minis competition games played on Sunday morning at Tom Knight Memorial Oval, Eligh Ritter and Alfie Toomey picked up the Coach’s Awards this week.

In the Under 8s’ Mods competition Jack Allan and Charlie Nicholson were the stand-out players who collected their Coach’s Awards.

This Saturday the Cobar juniors will travel to Dubbo to take on the South Dubbo teams in five grades.
