After a timing issue with players unavailable and the Golfie’s greens being out of action for a while due to an upgrade, the club’s 2023 Championship Triples bowls final was finally played on Saturday.
It started out as a tight tussle but the ‘Young Guns’ team of Alec Fraser, Mark Fraser and Jay Egan eventually rolled the United Nations team of Shane Carter, Peter ‘China’ Brien and Glenn ‘Kiwi’ Ratcliffe.
At the eighth end there was only two points separating the two teams until an impressive eight shot win in favour of the Frasers and Egan then rattled UN’s equilibrium!
From then on there was no stopping the ‘Young Guns’ who were declared 2023 Triples Champions after they finished strongly with a winning margin of +25.
It was indeed a magnificent display of precision bowling by the Fraser brothers and Egan!…Full report in this week’s edition out now!
