
The Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club competed at the AIF National Swimming Carnival in Coffs Harbour on Saturday with the Cobar club claiming another national title.
This year’s 89th annual carnival program attracted over 300 swimmers for handicapped (closest to nominated times) and open events for age groups 18 to 85+ years, as well as relays.
From the Yabbies team of more than 20 swimmers, Bob Clark was the stand-out claiming the Skipper Nobbs 50 metres Handicap Final national title.
Clark was a finalist in both the 50 metres and the 100 metres handicapped events finishing with heat times of 0.00 seconds and 0.03 seconds respectively off his nominated times.
Clark won the 50m final with a time of 0.13 seconds off his nominated time.
In the 100m final he swam to within 1.1 seconds of his nominated time which placed him 5th.
Stuart Small finished second in the Backstroke Championship event and was third in his 50-54 years Freestyle Championship race.
Dave Mexted claimed third place in the 40-44 years 50m Freestyle Championship.
