Waugh’s second century helps CSA to seven wicket win

Tadgh Waugh scored his second century of the season to lead CSA to a seven wickets win over Golfie in their Twenty20 cricket game at Ward Oval on Friday night.

Waugh has been the in-form batsman this year and continued that form on Friday blasting 102 runs before retiring.

His innings included 7 sixers and 10 fours.

Batting first, Golfie made 4/128 from their 20 overs.

Joel Mawhinney top-scored with 57 runs, Craig Youd made 29 and Nick Buckman finished with 22 not out.

David Watson was the pick of the CSA bowlers taking three wickets for 18 runs from four overs.

In reply, CSA passed the required total in only the 14th over.

CSA continued to bat out their 20 overs and finished with a total of 5/178.

In the Twenty20 game on Saturday afternoon Wyatt’s Whackers defeated Howie’s Hombres by five wickets.

Howie’s Hombres batted first and were bowled out in only the 13th over for 67 runs.

Ben Griffiths (3/5) and Tristan Everett (2/1) were the best of the Hombres’ bowlers.

In reply Wyatt’s Whackers passed the required total in the 14th over for the loss of five wickets.

Whackers batted out their 20 overs out finishing with a total of 5/148.

Jed Noonan (45 not out) and Everett (32 not out) top-scored for Whackers.

Bushies defeated Tilpa by 27 runs in their match on Saturday night.

Bushies batted first and made 3/177 from their 20 overs.

Stephen Nicholson (56 not out) and Stewart Fraser (50) top-scored for Bushies.

In reply, Tilpa were on the required run rate before Scott Toomey (40) and Jeremy McClure (50) were dismissed and Tilpa’s run chase stalled.

They finished with 7/149 from their 20 overs.—contributed
