There were two high scoring games of Twenty20 cricket played over the weekend with CSA and Bushies finishing as victors of their respective matches.
Firstly, on Friday night CSA were too strong for Tilpa chasing down their total with four overs remaining.
Batting first, Tilpa were bowled out for 122 runs. Josh Brown top-scored with 47 runs.
CSA’s bowlers, Tarun Bheemireddy (2/16) and David Watson (2/25) took two wickets each.
In reply CSA found themselves in trouble at 5/61 in the 7th over, but a half century from all-rounder Watson (52) and some big hitting from Joe Regan (28 not out) got CSA through to the required total. CSA continued batting for the full 20 overs to finish with a total of 6/173.
In Saturday’s game, Travis Buckman led Bushies to a convincing 117 runs win over Howie’s Hombres.
Bushies batted first making 6/197 from their 20 overs with Buckman top-scoring with 57.
He was supported by Bryan Manns (30 not out), Mark Fraser (27) and Stewart Fraser (25).
In reply, Howie’s Hombres were bowled out in the 13th over for 80 runs.
Chris Gilbert (27) and Ben McBride (10) were the only Howie’s Hombres batsmen to score double figures.
Buckman capped off an all-round performance taking 3/7.—contributed
