Toothless have booked their grand final spot in the Twenty20 cricket competition after a major semi final win on Friday night while Tilpa won Saturday’s elimination semi final to keep their grand final aspirations alive.
Tilpa beat Hombres by five wickets in Satur-day night’s elimination match at Ward Oval with Tilpa’s bowler James Anderson showing no mercy as he ripped through the Hombres’ top order batters taking 4/14.
Hombres got off to a bad start with wickets falling at: 1/0, 2/4, 3/6, 4/9 and 5/16 and they were eventually bowled out for a miserly total of 67 runs.
Jason Hampel (25) and Peter Robinson (16) were their only batters to reach double figures.
In addition to Anderson’s four wickets, Sam Plater also picked up two wickets for Tilpa.
In reply, Tilpa passed the required total with five wickets down and with 14 balls to spare.
Tom Plater (15) and Rhys Lloyd (14 not out) top-scored for Tilpa.
Nicola Harbison took two wickets for Hom-bres.
Toothless booked their grand final spot after defeating Bushies by 39 runs in the major semi on Friday.
Toothless won the toss and elected to bat first and they made 5/138 from their 20 overs.
Ben Griffiths was their best with the bat, top scoring with 47 runs, while Paddy Harris fin-ished with 21 not out.
Alec Fraser returned the best bowling figures for his Bushies team with 2/15.
In reply, Bushies could only manage 7/99 from their 20 overs. They lost wickets in clumps and never got going.
Mark Fraser top-scored for Bushies with 35 runs and Jade Buckman finished with 15 runs.
For Toothless, David Watson and J Brown each took wickets.
Bushies will now take on Tilpa this Friday night with the winner to meet Toothless in next Friday’s grand final.
