There was no beating Rorke

There was no beating Doug Rorke at the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club handicapped event last Tuesday night at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.

Rorke pulled off an incredible feat by swimming spot on his nominated time to take out the 50 metres event.

Back in second place was Stephen Clark (0.06) and Murray Harland was well behind in third place on 0.38.

Paul Swainston won the first stubby holder of the night with his win of the 30 metres event.

Swainston finished within 0.03 seconds of his nominated time with Matt O’Keefe just back in second place on 0.05 and Luke Quintal was third on 0.07.

There was also some close competition for the 100 metres swim with Bob Clark first on 0.18, O’Keefe second with 0.21 and Jarred Davey was third on 0.41.

Craig Kelly and Stephen Clark (1.22) teamed up to win the Brace Relay novelty race with O’Keefe making another podium appearance to finish second with Murray Harland (1.72).

In third place were Aaron Davey and Scott Toomey, finishing 6.00 seconds outside their nominated time.

The Yabbies will be hoping to take a large contingent of swimmers to this year’s Western Districts AIF Carnival which will be hosted by Forbes next month.

The Yabbies will then head interstate in March to Southport in Queensland for the Australian AIF Carnival (Nationals).
