Barbara Barklimore has won a Taronga Western Plains Zoo Family Pass in our ‘Members Only’ competition.
A new member who only joined up in the past month, Barb was very surprised with the news on Friday that she had won.
The support of our members, particularly the interest from almost 30 new members in the past three months, has been a great help.
While the paper can’t function without advertisers, readers and our regular contributors, as a not for profit community association, we also can’t operate without the support of our members.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo reopened last month and is once again ready to welcome guests to meet their new arrivals, which include Kani the Hippo calf.
Kani was born in April during the Zoo’s temporary closure period and she’s been carefully watched over by Zoo staff and her mum, Cuddles.
The Zoo also welcomed the birth of five Asian Small-clawed Otter pups in April.
The pups have been cared for in the family’s den but are expected to soon start to emerge to greet Zoo guests.
Visits to the Zoo have changed a bit under COVID-19 regulations with social distancing and increased cleaning routines being adhered to.
For further safety, some areas of the Zoo have been closed to the public, keeper talks and tours are currently not going ahead and all visitors need book in a date to visit.
