The Cobar Weekly calls on Cobar to spread Christmas Cheer

The Cobar Weekly’s head elf Tahnee Tomek and her assistant Amy Pagett have been busy putting the finishing touches on their our office display and are challenging other locals to help spread the Christmas cheer.

Do you reckon you have the best Christmas lights display in Cobar?

Maybe inflatables or detailed Christmas village scenes are your thing, or perhaps your home or business resembles Santa’s Workshop. However you choose to show it, The Cobar Weekly wants to see your display of Christmas Cheer!

The Weekly’s resident Christmas enthusiast Tahnee Tomek said the newspaper’s traditional Christmas Lights competition has had a revamp.

“Over the last few years we’ve noticed it’s not just about the lights anymore—now there’s so much detail in some displays!” she said.

Anyone can nominate their friends, family members or neighbours for the competition, and there’s Cobar Quids prizes up for grabs.

“This year we’ve split it into two categories—Judges’ Choice and Popular Vote,” Mrs Tomek said.

“Keep an eye out on our Facebook page in the coming weeks for details on how to vote for your favourites.

She said The Weekly will again be engaging the services of our expert judging panel from the Lilliane Brady Village and Cobar Girl Guides to help assess the entrants.

“We’re also hoping to get more businesses involved this year.

“Lots of local shops put together awesome Christmas window displays, so we’re offering a free half page advertisement in The Cobar Weekly as a prize for the best business display,” Mrs Tomek said.
