The 6th Suzuki Drive, held on the weekend, has raised over $50,000 for the Tilpa community and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Rally organiser Graeme Barton said it was an incredible effort this year by the 66 participants who drove their 33 Suzukis from Cobar to Tilpa on Friday and returned on Sunday.
Local Suzuki owners were joined by visitors from Mortlake (Victoria), Goulburn, Orange and Nyngan with all making a donation to enter.
Many also donated items for the auction which was held at the Tilpa Hotel on Saturday night.
Tilpa Community Centre Inc (TCCI) president Ben Bennett said the Suzuki rally is one of Tilpa’s most anticipated events.
“It’s a hell of a lot of fun for everyone,” Mr Bennett said.
“Each year they have an auction to raise money for the Tilpa community and RFDS, with about 100 people at this year’s auction and donations raised around $60k which is absolutely amazing.
“The top item was a custom fire pit which sold for $5,600.
“We are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity.
“It is a huge help for us to be able to maintain and upgrade the community facilities which are used by many throughout the year.
“At our last meeting we put together a list of improvements that we wanted to work towards.
“Some of those are a kitchen upgrade and a shade area over our community cool room and deck connected to our kitchen hall.
“One or more of these will be a reality thanks to the Suzuki rally,” Mr Bennet said.
