Students get a head start on careers

Cobar High School students Stevie Toomey and Holly Marsden with preschool students Jason Cleary, Pypa Lesslie and Hannah Riches and preschool director Kristi Martin.

Cobar High School Year 11 students Stevie Toomey and Holly Marsden have this year commenced a two year school-based traineeship at the Cobar Preschool Centre.

Both are studying a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care through the RTO Early Childhood Training And Resource Centre.

As part of their course requirements, they need to complete 100 on-the-job paid training days over the two years of their traineeship.

Each Monday Stevie and Holly spend
the day working at the preschool with the staff and young students and picking up the necessary skills that will help them to gain
future employment in the Early Childhood industry.

For the rest of the week, Stevie and Holly  return to Cobar High to continue their senior studies in order to receive their HSC.
