Local rider Kaila Wharton travelled to Mudgee on the weekend to compete at the local agriculture show, taking a win in the novice dressage competition with her horse “Be Just”.
It was a busy weekend for Kaila who entered with her three horses in the showjumping competition and competed in two different height classes each day on each horse.
This was Kaila’s first competition for the year and the horses’ first time competing in over five months after having a rest over the summer.
On Saturday Kaila and her horse ‘Reflecting King’ jumped a double clear round in his first class before producing another great second round in a higher class, however the pair were too slow to place.
Kaila and ‘Make Some Noise’ also went double clear in his first class to place second but fell out of the placings in his second class.
Kaila’s third horse ‘Be Just’ unluckily took the last rail down in the jump off in his first class to miss out on the win and then missed out on a place by milliseconds in his second class after going double clear.
They competed in the same classes again on Sunday where ‘Reflecting King’ once again jumped great clear rounds but was not quick enough in jump-offs to place.
‘Make Some Noise’ took out first place in his second class of the day and ‘Be Just’ jumped some more great rounds in both his classes unluckily missing out on places once again.
